Few studies have looked into how cannabis use during pregnancy affects the development of disruptive behavioral disorders (DBDs) in children, often using small sample sizes and self-reported data. This study aimed to understand the link between maternal cannabis use disorder (CUD) during pregnancy and after childbirth, and the risk of DBDs in children. We used health data from New South Wales, Australia, for children born between 2003 and 2005. We compared children whose mothers had CUD to those whose mothers did not, and assessed the risk of DBDs in these children. Both CUD and DBDs were...

Background
There is a high unmet need for mental health treatment worldwide. Understanding the barriers to treatment is essential for developing effective programs to address this issue.

Methods
Data on treatment barriers were collected through face-to-face interviews in 22 community surveys across 19 countries, involving 102,812 respondents aged 18 and older. The focus was on 5,136 individuals with anxiety, mood, or substance use disorders who had a perceived need for treatment. Of these, 2,444 did not receive treatment, and 926 received delayed treatment. Barriers were categorized into five...

INTRODUCTION: According to Brichcín (1999), a self-regulating person is someone who can resist the temptation of immediate gratification of their needs and is capable of achieving challenging goals. Self-regulation represents the ability to make free and responsible choices and actions in relation to oneself, others, and the environment, in spite of deterministic influences. In real life, this relationship may also be reflected by the quality of mental health and engagement in risk behaviors during adolescence (Jessor & Jessor, 1977). The aim of the present paper was to investigate the...

INTRODUCTION: Pakistan is ominously impacted by the menace of substance abuse. Women, who represent 42% of the total population, are primarily affected by the use of illicit substances with co-occurring behavioural disorders. Despite extensive efforts, prevalence estimates reported here are likely to underestimate substance use among women. A high level of dependency was observed among the cases who were reported; however, the unreported cases in the general population are beyond the count. This study focuses on an approximation about the prevalence of anti-social behaviour among women in...

PMID: 38810255; PMCID: PMC11170045.

Background:
Digital mental health interventions for depression, anxiety, and stress-related disorders are generally cost-effective, but evidence is lacking for guided digital mental health care in low and middle-income countries (LMICs) facing humanitarian crises. Step-by-Step (SbS) is effective for Lebanese citizens and war-affected Syrians in Lebanon. Assessing SbS's cost-effectiveness is crucial due to Lebanon's strained health care system.

Objective:
This study aims to assess the cost-effectiveness of SbS compared to enhanced usual care (EUC) through a randomized trial.

Methods:

Background: Limited research has been conducted on lifetime trauma exposure among individuals undergoing medication treatment for opioid use disorder (MOUD). A multisite study provided an opportunity to investigate the prevalence of lifetime trauma and variations by gender, PTSD status, and chronic pain.

Methods: A cross-sectional study analyzed baseline data from participants (N = 303) enrolled in a randomized controlled trial of a mind–body intervention alongside MOUD. All participants were stabilized on MOUD. Measures included the Trauma Life Events Questionnaire (TLEQ), the Brief Pain...

INTRODUCTION:

The interplay between pathological narcissism and substance use disorder (SUD) complicates diagnosis and treatment planning. A lack of clarity and consensus surrounding the different forms of narcissism has made it difficult to fully understand their connection. Therefore, this review provides a brief history of the concept of narcissism, it’s manifestation, treatment, interdependencies with SUD and identifies gaps in the literature.

METHODS:

A non-systematic literature review of existing research to synthesize the literature on the relationship between narcissism and SUD was...
