It is estimated that in Latin America there are more than 2 million children and adolescents who have one of their parents deprived of their liberty and that of these, almost half a million live in this situation due to the mass incarceration of people for minor non-violent drug crimes.

Join the Inter-American Commission of Women/OAS for the launch of this study, based on the results of the fieldwork carried out in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama, the Dominican Republic and Uruguay, has as main objective to make visible the impacts that this phenomenon has had on the lives of thousands of children and adolescents and that, still, are practically invisible to public policies in the region.
