EUSPR 2022 was held in Tallinn, Estonia on 29th and 30th of September 2022, with a programme of pre-conference workshops and project meetings taking place on September 28th.
The theme this year was ‘Prevention – Between Ethics and Effectiveness’ and the keynotes and special sessions were delivered in a hybrid format. The conference itself focused on discussing the challenges of being both effective and ethical in prevention.
Different aspects of ethical prevention were explored, such as if prevention or doing prevention is always ethical, how ethical aspects can affect the strategic communication of interventions, and what can science learn from practice about interventions.
ISSUP participated in the conference by presenting our work implementing INEP Plus during the last period and how we delivered it to National Chapters in different countries.
A session on “Quality of training modules in prevention delivered through digital approaches” was presented by Ms. Helena Fialova, Ms. Rachele Donini and Ms. Rasha Abi Hana. On behalf of the ISSUP Scientific Support Team, Rasha gave a presentation on the Introduction to Evidence Based Prevention (INEP Plus) titled “Adding the “PLUS” to “INEP”: From “what” to “how”?”. She also presented an overview about the ISSUP mission and role in the drug demand reduction field.
The development of INEP Plus was a result of professional willingness to reflect, share, and respond to need through collaboration with different stakeholders, including our main partner Charles University in Prague (CUNI) and the delivery of the modules led by Ms. Rachele Donini and Mr. Jeff Lee. INEP Plus training is now delivered to a batch of 26 National Chapter facilitators from 13 countries, in addition to 40 facilitators trained in phase 1 across 20 countries.
ISSUP is committed to supporting prevention science and works to address the needs of different prevention stakeholders. For this reason INEP Plus is a excellent first step onto the prevention ladder and we look forward to expanding its availability.
