Fathers-to-be who used cigarettes were nearly twice as likely to quit after receiving brief advice on the dangers of secondhand smoking along with a sample of nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) and a referral to cessation services, according to trial results in JAMA Internal Medicine. The multisite study took place in Hong Kong, where nearly 30% of men with newborns smoke.
