Colorado has had medical marijuana since 2001 and more than 90% of medical marijuana recommendations are for pain, yet in 2019, Colorado had a record year in opioid overdoses, including a 115% increase in fentanyl deaths and 24% increase in prescription overdoses. Preliminary 2020 data looks worse with 2020 numbers through the 3rd quarter already higher than the entire year of 2019.
