Each September, Recovery Month is celebrated around the world to raise awareness of alcohol and drug use disorders and promote the benefits of prevention, treatment and recovery support services.
During this event people are encouraged to talk about their recovery journey so that hope can be generated and stigma reduced.
Each year, Recovery Month selects a new focus and theme to spread the message and share the successes of treatment and recovery.
The theme for 2020 National Recovery Month is Join the Voices for Recovery: Celebrating Connections.
Over the past six months, people have been forced into lockdown. In order to maintain the connection-a vital component for many people who are going through the recovery journey- services have had to be creative and flexible.
This is a time to celebrate the strength and resilience of people. It is also a time to support, reach out and empathise with one another.
ISSUP has three networks dedicated to recovery.
