About Us

ISSUP South Africa has been established to promote the mission and vision of ISSUP within South Africa and internationally in collaboration with Global ISSUP and other National Chapter partners.  Its focus is to promote evidence-based, high-quality, and ethical policy and practice in the field of drug demand reduction and the professionalization of the workforce.

The ISSUP National Chapter in South Africa is hosted by SANCA (South African National Council of Alcohol and Drug Dependence). Mr. David Bayever is the current National Director of the ISSUP SA Chapter, supported by Mr. Roger Weimann (Elim Clinic) and Ms. Adrie Vermeulen (SANCA National Office Representative).  The chapter is overseen by a network of partner organizations (ICUDDR SA, ITTC SA, SANCA, SACENDU). All governance is conducted under the supervision of the ISSUP International Organization to align the South African Chapter with the ideals set out by the International Society.
