ISSUP at the Society for Prevention Research Annual Meeting
Last week Joanna Travis-Roberts, ISSUP's Deputy Executive Director, and Livia Edegger, ISSUP’s Communications and Research Manager, attended the Annual Meeting of the Society for Prevention Research (SPR) in Washington, D.C. Prior to the conference, Joanna and Livia participated in the International Networking Forum, where exciting opportunities to collaborate in the area of communications were discussed. Members of SPR’s International Committee warmly welcomed the idea of ISSUP helping to enhance communications between SPR and the international community as well as within the International Committee.
More than 800 researchers, practitioners and policy makers from around the world came together to exchange new concepts, methods and results within the prevention and related public health fields. The meeting provided a great opportunity for ISSUP to spread the word about the work we do and the services we offer.
In addition to networking, Joanna and Livia attended a number of sessions to learn more about the latest research in the prevention field. They also attended NIDA’s (National Institute on Drug Abuse) poster sessions, in which researchers showcased the results of their studies. ISSUP aims to share all the information and knowledge gathered with our members, in order to advance our role of bridging the gap between research and practice and support the implementation of evidence-based, high-quality preventive interventions.
