The beginning of July 2019 saw a hugely successful gathering of the substance use disorder workforce at the Vienna International Centre. The event, co-hosted by ISSUP and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) with support from US State Department’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, included a 3 day conference programme, a series of trainings and side meetings.
Training partners for the event included the Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission (CICAD-OAS), Colombo Plan, European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), World Health Organisation (WHO), Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA), Drug Free America Foundation (DFAF), International Consortium of Universities for Drug Demand Reduction (ICUDDR), and NAADAC - the Association for Addiction Professionals.
The beauty of the event was the atmosphere of collaboration and mutual respect which gave the rooms and halls the feeling of a family reunion! Thank you to all of you who participated and made it such a constructive few days. We are counting down to the next event in UAE!
