Ecolink Institute successfully completes its 3rd Batch on UTC training
Mangalore: Ecolink Institute of Well-being, an India based training Institute who pioneered online live training of the Universal Treatment Curriculum successfully completed its 3rd international batch recently.
Padmashree Shanthi Ranganathan, founder of TTK Hospital and an internationally known SUD activist chaired the closing ceremony and gave her closing remarks. She said it was an outstanding achievement for Ecolink to offer this training to students from several countries, despite the adverse circumstances.
She congratulated the participants who completed all the eight curricula and joined the professional team of addiction professionals under the aegis of the Colombo Plan and the Ecolink.
The entire therapy team of TTK hospital also were part of the UTC 3rd batch, besides participants from 10 other countries including South Africa, Hong Kong, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Kenya, Botswana, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Malaysia, Brunei and India.
The chief guest insisted that UTC is an internationally recognized curriculum for addiction practitioners and training is a must for every addiction practitioner. “Addiction is a complex disease which requires competent therapists to successfully treat SUD”, she said.
Earlier, Becky Vaughn, Director of Global Center for Credentialing and Certification (GCCC) honored the students who have successfully completed the ICAP examination from the Batch One, and welcomed them to the team of Internationally Certified Addiction Professionals.
She said that Ecolink Institute has kept alive the capacity building efficiently with the best resource team during this pandemic era and congratulated all the resource persons and the Institute for giving one of the “best training programs on UTC through online live sessions”.
Earlier, Dr.Thirumagal V, the key resource person of the UTC presented a session on the relevance and procedures of the ICAP exam and credentialing.
Michael Van AS, a student of the UTC 3rd batch from South Africa said that the training has enabled her to become “more knowledgeable and skillful” in handing addiction cases in her country.
Nima Mathew from TTK Hospital who attended the training with eight of her colleagues said it was an amazing opportunity for her to study with an international group of students and strengthen her expertise.
Grant Sanders from UK who serve as an addiction professional in Hong Kong said he never missed a class although it was on Saturdays. “I sacrificed all my other programs on weekends for the sake UTC and my dream is to become an ICAP certified professional”, he said.
Dr.Mohamad Nazri bin Mhd Daud from Malaysia said it was the best course on addiction management he ever attended and I thank the Ecolink Institute for providing “such a great opportunity with the best resource team”
Raman Iyyer, a saxophone artist and a student of UTC from Batch II presented the Ecolink Anthem which called for linking together for a better world which is green and healthy.
Students from other batches and the resource persons like Aditi Ghanekar and Francis Moothedan also attended the closing and graduation ceremony and wished the students.
Dr.Thomas Scaria, the Director of the Institute thanked all the resource persons and the students for making this UTC training through zoom platform a success.
