Promoting Alcohol Reduction in Non-Treatment Seeking parents (PAReNTS study) aims to develop and evaluate brief alcohol interventions for risky drinking parents in contact with children’s social care. This presentation with discuss the findings of the three work packages:
1)    A Cochrane review of effective interventions to reduce parental drug and alcohol use
2)    A qualitative study with parents and practitioners
3)    A pilot feasibility randomised control trial of brief alcohol intervention versus usual care   

Learning Outcomes:

  • To examine the evidence for effective psychosocial intervention to reduce parental alcohol and drug use
  • To describe the intervention, how it was developed and lessons learnt from piloting the interventions
  • To assess the feasibility of a randomised control trial of alcohol brief intervention versus usual care
