Needle and Syringe Programme Training

Needle and syringe programs (NSPs) are a type of harm reduction initiative that provides clean needles and syringes to people who inject drugs (sometimes referred to as PWID) to reduce transmission of HIV and other blood-borne viruses (such as hepatitis B and C). The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends providing 200 sterile needles and syringes per drug injector per year, to effectively tackle HIV transmission via this route.

Mapambano ya Kifua Kikuu na Ukimwi Temeke (MUKIKUTE) in cooperation with Drug Control and Enforcement Aunthority (DCEA) conducted training for project coordinators of different civil society organizations (CSOs) who will implement the Harm reduction program.
