At the beginning of November, ISSUP and ISSUP Kenya attended the 25th Annual Congress of the International Society of Addiction Medicine (ISAM) in Marrakesh, Morocco.
The theme of the 2023 ISAM Congress was ‘Improving Care and Compassion in Addiction: XXV Years of Global Focus and Perspectives’. The Director of ISSUP Kenya Dr Pamela Kaithuru together with Brian Morales, the Chief of the Counternarcotics Branch of the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) and ISSUP's Deputy Director Livia Edegger participated in a panel on the importance of developing an educated and professional workforce in drug demand reduction in the region.
The Congress offered an opportunity to share scientific evidence, further the transfer of knowledge and network as a way to advance professionalism in the drug demand reduction field in Africa.
