CARE AND CONTROL: HOW FAR SHOULD COLLABORATION GO?

Key review argues that criminal justice and treatment conducted in a criminal justice context should see themselves as partners in a common effort, but one is geared to protecting society, the other to what’s best for the patient. Resulting differences come to a head in rules about confidentiality - in particular, what treatment can/must disclose to criminal justice about the offender/patient and what they have said or done during treatment.
