Celebration of 30 Years of Drug Prevention & Treatment Activities of Dhaka Ahsania Mission
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan has said that the society will lose proactive capable manpower if we cannot eradicate drug related problems from our country. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina strictly directed to make the dope tests mandatory for government services to motivate the youth to remain drug-free. Mr Asaduzzaman Khan expressed his hope that once we are able to remove drug-related hazards from our society, our beloved motherland will become a peaceful and progressive country. He said this while addressing at the inauguration ceremony of the year-long anti-drug events planned for celebrating 30 years of drug prevention & treatment of Dhaka Ahsania Mission. He was the Chief Guest at the occasion that was held at Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology in the capital on 22 February 2020, Saturday.
The Home Minister said that the Honorable Prime Minister has adopted “Zero Tolerance Policy” against drugs, just the similar way she insists on eradicating terrorism. The “Vision 2041” will not be fulfilled if we cannot protect the youths from drug. People in the country do not smoke in open areas like they used to before. Many females get admitted in Dhaka Ahsania Mission Female Drug Treatment Center for treatment. If girls develop the habit of drug addiction, they should be admitted in such a center for proper guidance on how to stay away from such cursed lives. The minister further expressed that Although Bangladesh is not a drug-producing country, but still we are facing drug-related hazards. We are trying to raise awareness. The way we are ahead at the war in fighting tobacco usage, we will be able to eliminate drugs soon.
Inspector General of Prisons, Brigadier General AKM Mustafa Kamal Pasha and Additional Director General, Department of Narcotics Control, Sanjoy Kumar Chowdhury (Additional Secretary) were present as special guests on the occasion. Vice-Chancellor of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology, Professor Mohammad Fazli Ilahi also spoke on the occasion. Director of Dhaka Ahsania Mission Health Sector, Mr Iqbal Masud delivered the welcome address while President of Dhaka Ahsania Mission, Kazi Rafiqul Alam presided over.
