As part of ISSUP's mission to contribute to the professionalisation and development of its network of professionals, the first Spanish edition of the "Introduction to Evidence-Based Prevention" (INEP Plus) Facilitators Course, developed by Charles University in the Czech Republic, was held.
To date, five cohorts of professionals from around the world have been trained to support the training of the drug demand reduction workforce in their respective countries. However, this edition is the first to be conducted in Spanish, marking a significant achievement in breaking the language barrier that often limits access to formal educational programs backed by prestigious global institutions.
This time, twenty-one participants from nine different countries (Argentina, Chile, Colombia, El Salvador, Spain, Guatemala, Panama, Paraguay, and Peru) brought their diverse professional backgrounds, perspectives, and extensive experience to enrich each of the ten sessions of the course. These sessions were moderated by José Luis Benítez from ISSUP Mexico, with support from Bárbara Correa from ISSUP Global.
The new facilitators presented their action plans for implementing INEP Plus in their contexts, and their dedication and effort during their training will soon be reflected in specific actions as part of the activities carried out by the National Chapters of the countries they represent.
Thus, Spanish-speaking professionals from various nationalities, united through the ISSUP network, are ready to replicate INEP Plus and provide new tools to those starting work in the field of drug use prevention. This reiterates ISSUP's commitment to connecting, uniting, and providing knowledge to the global workforce dedicated to substance use prevention, treatment, and recovery support.
