At the end of last month, ISSUP's Deputy Director, Livia Edegger attended the 4th Annual ICUDDR Conference in Cusco, Peru. The conference was kicked off on Sunday, July 21st with welcome speeches by university representatives, government officials and international organisations and included the presentation of the Cusco Declaration on Substance Use and Treatment. Each conference day started with a stimulating keynote speech ranging from scaling up science based mental health care via digital health to what works and does not work in prevention. The conference also included a variety of panel discussions, poster sessions and training workshops.
The event was a great opportunity for networking and learning from each other’s work with more than 400 attendees and 40 universities from all around the world present. ISSUP had the chance to meet with government and civil society representatives from the region to discuss their involvement with ISSUP and explore future collaborations.
