Efthimios Chatzitheoklitos studied Medicine at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and is a Doctor at the same University. After obtaining his specialty in General Surgery in Athens, he was further trained in England, Germany and Switzerland. He served as an attending at Ippokrateio Hospital and Papageorgiou Hospital of Thessaloniki.
In 2003 he became Chief of Surgery at St. Dimitrios Hospital of Thessaloniki and since 2014, he is the Director of the 3rd Surgical Clinic and in charge of the Pancreatic Unit. He was president of the Surgical Society of Northern Greece and the Hellenic Society of Gastrointestinal Surgery. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Medical Association of Thessaloniki and president of the Association of Hospital Doctors of Northern Greece. He was a member of missions of voluntary organizations working in Africa. Until recently he was the president of the Greek Mountaineering Association of Thessaloniki.
