Annette has over 35 years’ experience as an international and national UK expert in substance use disorder (SUD) treatment and prevention. Annette the Chief Executive Office of Naufar SUD treatment service in Doha, Qatar. She is also working with Colombo Plan to develop the new international Consortium on Quality in drug use disorder treatment (ICQ) funded by the US Department of State (INL).
Since 2014, Annette has been Director of adpconsultancyUK and an international consultant and trainer for UNODC, WHO, EMCDDA, Colombo Plan, ECOWAS, and international technology transfer centres (ITTC)s. This has included working with over 15 countries as the lead consultant and trainer on projects on quality assurance for UNODC and WHO. She is also a visiting academic at Middlesex University in London and on the Universal Treatment Curricula Expert Advisory Group.
Prior to this, I the UK, Annette was NHS Strategic Director of Addition and Offender Health Care (2008-2014) in the UK managing SUD treatment services for more than 10,000 patients a year.
Her national positions in the UK included: UK government advisor (ACMD 2011-19); Director of Quality (for England) (2001-2008) National Treatment Agency for Substance Misuse (NTA) and Director of Policy and Practice for DrugScope (1995-2001)
Prior to this she was a Research Fellow for the University of London (1989-1995). She began her career working in residential rehabilitation s and community-based opioid treatment services (1983- 1989). Annette is an accomplished speaker, lecturer and trainer. With a background in psychology and NHS management, she has written numerous national and international SUD guidance documents and is published in academic journals.
