Former Deputy Prime Minister Truong Vinh Trong passed away on the 19th of February, 2021 in Ben Tre Province at the age of 79.
Trong began his political career in 1960, working in the student movement against the South Vietnam regime. He joined the National Front for the Liberation of South Vietnam in 1962 and worked in various key roles, including deputy head of the propaganda committee and Party chief of Giong Trom District.
Elected to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam in 1986, he served in several significant positions, including head of the Central Internal Political Protection Committee and head of the Central Committee for Internal Affairs. In 2006, he was appointed Deputy Prime Minister, a position he held until his retirement in 2011.
Trong's contributions to Vietnam's political landscape and justice system reforms were significant and lasting.
